“We rolled on the ground and fought”: Koba LaD sentenced to 15 months in prison for violence against his manager

Rapper Koba LaD was sentenced to 15 months’ imprisonment on Monday by the criminal court of Melun (Seine-et-Marne) for violence committed in 2022 against his historic manager, whom the musician accuses of having defrauded him.

If he was acquitted for the charges of theft and kidnapping, the 24-year-old artist received a heavier sentence than the requisitions made in November, which were two prison sentences including one year suspended.

The musician with three certified platinum albums and whose relationship with RnB singer Wejdene is causing social networks to panic, listened to the court deliver its decision by videoconference, from the Fleury-Mérogis remand center (Essonne).

In September, Koba LaD was indicted and imprisoned for manslaughter in Val-de-Marne in a road accident.

His lawyer, Stéphanie Cherqui, did not wish to make a statement following the deliberations on Monday.

“This decision demonstrates that acts of violence even in the world of rap are sanctioned,” reacted to AFP Me Jonathan Bellaiche, lawyer for Marvin I., manager of Koba LaD.

During the hearing in November, Marvin I. known as “Deuspi” recounted how, upon returning from a showcase in a club in Lille in April 2022, he was taken away in the early morning by members of Koba’s entourage LaD, in an abandoned warehouse in Essonne. There he was beaten and lost consciousness.

When the manager regains consciousness, he finds himself with a group of “six-seven” people in front of the home of his partner Sarah B. in Vert-Saint-Denis, a town in the conurbation of Melun (Seine-et-Marne). Inside, his partner and his little brother are sequestered.

In front of the judges, Koba LaD admitted to the judges a fight in the street between them on April 18, 2022 but denies any kidnapping of his manager.

“We rolled on the ground and fought,” he simply said, when the other defendants denied the facts which they claimed were “totally false”.

The court released these three people on Monday, in accordance with the requisitions.

Koba LaD, real name Marcel Junior Loutarila, accuses his manager of having defrauded him of several hundred thousand euros and filed a complaint against him after his arrest by the police in the case of violence and kidnapping. The investigation into this financial aspect is still ongoing.
