Reading and science fiction launches the year of the media library network of Western

At the start of the year, the Western media library network is offering a rich program of events and new features for all audiences. As Marc Moutoussamy, director of the network, indicates, the program established for 2025 “is based on the establishment’s service project which includes several areas of development of public reading in media libraries”.

Reading nights on the theme of heritage

First highlight, Reading Nights will be available locally. Several actions will be organized on January 23 and 25 at the Alain Gérard media library, starting on January 23 from 6 p.m. with an open stage for reading, poetry and singing. Saturday January 25 will allow the public to discover the hidden facets of the media library with secret tours behind the scenes of the establishment (at 10:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. in Breton). Appointment upon registration at 02 98 98 86 60.

That same day, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., a very original event will be held in the gallery, proposed by a collective of Fine Arts students. The public will be invited to sit around a table for an “Embroidered Feast”, a moment of sharing around collective embroidery of the tablecloth, with other activities such as discussions, story-telling readings, debates and intimate stories around science fiction.

Science fiction in force

Then will come the Myceliades, national meetings around science fiction. On the occasion of this event which takes place from February 1 to 16, a collective exhibition “Our memories of the future” will be offered to the public by a collective of artists wishing to share their love for science fiction.

Debates will take place, notably in the presence of Catherine Dufour, ambassador of the Mycéliades festival, on Saturday February 15 from 3 p.m.
