Exiled in France with their mothers and children, the Ukrainian group Dakh Daughters travels the theaters of the “free world” from the Caucasus to the Baltic countries, from Europe to North America.
With a sense of political duty and armed by the power of live performance and music, they challenge the public on the issues of this war. This film tells the story of the resistance of the Dakh Daughters on the “artistic front”.
Since the start of the war, Ukrainians have enlisted in the army to defend their country, others have had to go into exile to save their lives.
The Dakh Daughters embody a third way: that of fighting “from the outside” to carry the voice of the Ukrainian people through unbridled and liberating music. The political commitment of these five women testifies to the power of art as a weapon of mass awareness so that Ukrainian identity exists within a sovereign state freed from the yoke of Moscow and, more broadly, to defend the democratic ideals of the countries Westerners.
