Élodie Poux and Majid Berhila are arriving this evening on M6

It's been fifteen years since the daily miniseries Household scenes brightens up the early evening of the French on M6. To celebrate this anniversary, the iconic duos will soon meet again for a special prime time, but they are also welcoming a new pair.

From this Monday, January 13, Alice and Sofiane are moving into your living room. Played by comedians Élodie Poux and Majid Berhila, these parents of a 16-year-old girl run a grocery store in the mountains and therefore work together. A first in the comedy program.

An obvious fact between the actors

“My character is convinced that he has all the techniques to sell and he is with a woman who is more into relationships and gossip. They are very different from each other, but love each other very much”explains Majid Berhila, who was part of the duo Les Lascars gays.

Between the two actors, osmosis was immediate. “It was obvious right away, we feel like we've been married for fifteen years! We both have a sense of rhythm and sharing”confides Élodie Poux, who was chosen first and found her partner among eight actors.
She therefore set her sights on Majid Berhila despite the fact that she did not want, at first, to play with a comedian. “Few of them are actors and they are people – me first – who want to work alone and do as they want. It's always difficult to share the daily life of someone who wants to be alone. But, there, it fit perfectly and Majid also formed a duo for a long time”explains the actress.

Seen in the miniseries Like kidsalready on M6, the latter combines this new filming with the tour of her show Butterfly Syndrome every weekend.
Faced with the offer to begin this adventure, none of them hesitated for a second. ““Domestic scenes” cannot be refused”they exclaim in unison. “People like the program, it’s part of the French audiovisual landscape and then, it’s great to play together when we’re all alone on the road during our tours”adds Élodie Poux. Majid Berhila is particularly proud to join the team of Household scenes : “It’s a series that is fifteen years old and that everyone knows. When I go to my parents, we watch together. It’s a pride to participate in this cult program”.

A human machine

If the authors had written the plot of this new couple in advance, the duo spent two days in a castle with the production to think about the personality of their characters. “We participated in their creation. We, for example, thought about their personal stories, their past and we built this new couple together”explains Élodie Poux.

Then, as is customary for other duos in the series, the two actors did a reading of all the sketches in order to see what works and what doesn't and to find the perfect tone. A method that pleasantly surprised Majid Berhila. “This is what makes this series successful: the production takes the time to think and work on the characters with the actors but also to have our own words when necessary in the texts”. “We didn’t think that a machine this big could operate so humanly”adds Élodie Poux.

To make people believe that Alice and Sofiane, the heroes of this new couple, live in the mountains, the two actors film with LED screens, embedded in the decor, which broadcast images of snow or sunshine. If their place of life is also that of their work, the two characters evolve in different parts of the house: their living room, the grocery store, the balcony, the kitchen… A third character will also arrive in some time: the couple's teenage daughter.

When starting filming, Élodie Poux and Majid Berhila discovered the fast pace of filming. “ We work days from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., we work quite a bit. You have to change, learn the texts, understand the intentions of the game, welcome the extras (there are a lot of them with the grocery store, editor's note)… I think you need a certain level of comedy to do that, all the world can't do it. And then, we shoot sequence shots, there is no cutting but I find it a challenge that is worth it”conclu Majid Berhila.
