With Pradines invites the Compagnie Théâtre d’Aymare which will perform “La Révolte” by the author Auguste Villiers de l’Isle Adam in a production by Laurent Pérez, with Sylvie Maury and Laurent Pérez, and Philippe Gelda on the piano, Saturday January 18, 2025 at 8:30 p.m., La Prade room, near Cahors.

What a story! She is located in a bourgeois environment. Monsieur (Félix) is a banker, Madame (Élisabeth) a housewife; they have a daughter, we are in the 19th century^e century. One evening, when checking the accounts, Madame announced to her husband her immediate and definitive departure. What a scandal! She has everything to be happy: a wealthy husband (she tripled her fortune in a few years), a pretty daughter, a rich bourgeois house of which she is the devoted and respected mistress. Well: no! It’s over: the car is waiting for her, she leaves to escape the deadly boredom of this monotonous existence. She finally wants to live!

This avant-garde piece written and performed at the end of the Second Empire, in 1870, was immediately banned. The couple who are torn apart announce the questioning of the diktat of the bourgeoisie, of money, of adulterated values, of ambient paternalism… Confined to the role of wife and mother, Élisabeth is by turns submissive, ironic , lyrical, melancholic, rebellious, desperate. The piano, under the fingers of Philippe Gelda, becomes the 3^e character in the play, the only partner capable of translating his state of mind and emotions.
