Julie de Bona is Érica Faure. (THIERRY LANGRO / POTOMAK FILMS)

A new heroine from a detective series on TF1. This time, she’s a novelist, author of thrillers. Her name is Erica. Divorced woman who returns to her region of origin in the Landes and, like Audrey Fleurot in HPI (the cleaning lady who stuck her nose into the investigations), will become embedded in the work of a commissioner and trying to put his sense of the thriller at his service. This fresh series, Ericais in fact the adaptation of successful Nordic novels by a former accountant Camilla Läckberg (The Ice Princess, The preacher, The stonemasonetc.)

More than the detective series aspect, it is the modern character of Erica which interested the one who plays her, Julie de Bona: “There are a lot of detective series, and I’m not necessarily a fan of thrillers. On the other hand, I really fell in love with the character of Erica. I have the impression that I’m not going to ‘bored with her. She is very human, she is very close to people and she looks like us. Besides, Camilla Läckberg says that Erica is her.

Julie de Bona is fresh in this character, who will evolve over the course of the evenings, like in Camilla Läckberg’s novels. This delights the actress: “It’s not a linear series, rather a collection of short films with real ellipses between each evening, around the couple. The second evening, she arrives 4 months pregnant and Patrick is unaware. The third evening , we’re going to talk about the baby blues. They’re more intimate things each time. We’re really caught up in the characters and the couple. I hope that a human side will emerge.”

With Érica, we are far from the dark and rainy atmospheres of Scandinavian thrillers. The series is filmed in the Landes in Hossegor, and gains in color. Julie de Bona is delighted: “Colorful is not bad too. Ultimately, we are completely different from the Nordics, but it was better to decide. We are in a world that is eventful, windy, colorful and elegant and playful and sunny. There is drama and human, but there is also a sour candy side.”

Ericaa refreshing thriller with a sparkling Julie de Bona, to watch on TF1.
