Cahors. The Ballet du Capitole at the theater for an exceptional evening

Exceptional evening of dance at the Cahors theater, Thursday January 16. Love of beauty, audacity and modernity sum up the vocation of the Ballet of the Opéra national du Capitole. With 35 dancers of fourteen different nationalities, it is a ballet open to the world, recognized and praised each season by the public and professionals. Eleven will be on the Cadurcian stage, for “Etoiles de la danse”.

At the start of the program, the stars and soloists of the Ballet du Capitole invite you to a short class, concentrated on their daily training.

This class allows the dancer to warm up and prepare for performances through specific exercises in speed, coordination, saltation, technical virtuosity, range of movement, etc.

This will be followed by two variations for soloist and a pas de deux extracts from Les Sylphides by Mikhail Fokine on pieces by Chopin, the Russian choreographer’s homage to the French romantic ballet of the 19th century and to the ballerina who best symbolizes it, Marie Taglioni.

With extracts from La Bayadère by Marius Petipa, the undisputed Master of the great Petersburg classical ballet, you will enter the magical world of Les Ombres and the bayadère Nikiya, tinged with a hint of orientalism.

Before the finale, you can enjoy a fireworks display of technique and virtuosity with George Balanchine’s Tchaikovsky Pas de deux.
