The negotiations were long and secret… Even the first lady and president of the Hospital Foundation, Brigitte Macron, was not able to announce it on Wednesday during her interview on TF 1 news for the launch of the 36th edition Yellow Coins. The charity operation Gala will be held on Thursday January 23 at the Paris La Défense Arena in Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine), the largest performance hall in Europe, and will return with a breathtaking poster, rivaling that of the major French festivals.
According to our information, the show will bring together around ten Anglo-Saxon pop and K-pop stars on stage, starting with Katy Perry. It’s the big return of the American, who has not sung in Paris since 2018 – except for a showcase at the Louis Vuitton Foundation – and will fill three Accor Arenas on October 24, November 4 and 5 .
She will be surrounded by the king of R’n’B John Legend, also in full renaissance, the Nigerian master of afro-beat Burna Boy, and three South Korean artists adored by the crowds: J-Hope, the singer the most emblematic of the group BTS, G-Dragon, leader of BigBang, and Rosé, the singer of Blackpink, who launched her solo career with a huge hit, “APT. », with Bruno Mars. We begin to dream that the latter will join her in Paris to perform their irresistible duet as a world exclusive.
Still suspense over the French-speaking headliners
Other artists with borderless popularity, but in the classical field, particularly brilliant during the reopening evening of Notre-Dame, the Chinese pianist Lang Lang and the South African soprano Pretty Yende will be present at this event which makes the bridge between music and generations. They will be accompanied by the impeccable Lamoureux Orchestra. As for French-speaking songs, we only know one headliner: the faithful Gims returns after setting the previous edition on fire. The name of Aya Nakamura is also circulating but has not been made official.
We also imagine that the young troupe which has just released the first anthem of Les Peintures Jaunes, the luminous “Les p’tits soleils”, will be there. Among the 28 artists, some have already made a name or first name in the “Star Academy” or “The Voice” on TF 1, such as Joseph Kamel, Héléna, Stéphane, Mentissa, Styleto, Linh, Vernis Rouge, Carla , Michou…
The cellist Gautier Capuçon will obviously be there. Associated with the Yellow Pieces for more than fifteen years, it is he who is at the origin of this charity evening which makes it possible to raise new funds to improve the hospitalization of children and adolescents. During Covid-19, in 2020, he created the confined concert “Symphony for Life”, at the Châtelet, presented in public the following year at the Opéra-Comique, then at the Cirque Gruss, and finally gave birth to the Yellow Coins Gala.
Tickets on sale Monday at 2 p.m.
After filling the Zénith de Paris in 2023 with Blackpink and Pharrell Williams, this charity event reached a milestone last year by tripling its ticket sales at the Accor Arena (13,000 spectators) with a superb cast mixing pop, K-pop , rap and classical, the stars ASAP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, Lisa from the group Blackpink, Stray Kids, J Balvin, Gims, Phoenix, Gautier and Renaud Capuçon… The presence in the stands of Rihanna, ASAP Rocky’s wife, obviously added to the international impact of the evening.
The organizers of the Yellow Pieces are betting on almost tripling last year’s capacity, going from 13,000 to 35,000 places. But with a cast like that, they’ll have no trouble selling them. Especially since their price will not be excessive, from 50 euros to 80 euros. The 35,000 tickets will go on sale Monday January 13 at 2 p.m.
The evening will, like the last two years, be orchestrated by a trio, France Télévisions, Électron Libre Productions and the Fondation des Hôpitaux, associated to create both a concert and a TV show, which will later be broadcast on France 2.
