the L’Odyssée cinema broke its attendance record in 2024

On Wednesday January 8, President Yolande Alberti brought together the L’Odyssée cinema team – employees, volunteers, administrators – to share the traditional Epiphany cake. These reunions at the start of the year were also an opportunity to take stock of last season, marking a sharp increase in attendance, with more than 15,000 entries on the clock. An arthouse cinema that shines on Casteljaloux, but also on the other towns and villages of the Coteaux et Landes de Gascogne community of communes.

Last year, spectators largely praised French cinema, with films such as “Un p’tit truc en plus”, “The Count of Monte Cristo”, “Fêlés”, filmed in Marmande, as well as ” Cocorico” and “Monsieur Aznavour”. A special mention was also given to video game sessions, formats which were launched in 2023 with “The Quarry”. With one monthly session, around thirty people participate. During some, there are “Mario Kart”, “Street Fighter” tournaments, or even the discovery of retro games. In this year 2025, a session is planned for Wednesday January 15, after the screening of “Sonic 3”, at 3 p.m.

Resistance, shepherds and Tuche

The next day, Thursday January 16, at 8:30 p.m., a meeting is scheduled with Catherine Catella, for her documentary “Un Paese di Resistenza”, in partnership with Écrans 47. Subsequently, the documentary “Bergers d’Aure” will be screened Thursday January 30 at 8:30 p.m. Bernard Lataste, the director, as well as the shepherds from the film, will be present for the occasion. In preview, Sunday February 2 at 3 p.m., the last part of the Tuche adventures, “God Save the Tuche”.

People who wish can join the association that manages L’Odyssée; Cards are on sale at the cinema box office during screening times. From members, they can then become volunteers and participate in the life of the cinema.
