Actor Jean-Michel Dupuis, seen in “La boum”, died at the age of 69

Jean-Michel Dupuis died at the age of 69, on Saturday, September 14, following a long illness. This information was revealed by his partner Sylvie Audcoeur, in an AFP press release published this Sunday afternoon.

The actor began his career in the late 1970s. In cinema, he mainly played secondary roles. One of his most notable roles was that of Etienne in “La boum” in 1980, alongside Sophie Marceau. Jean-Michel Dupuis then worked for major directors, such as Claude Lelouch in “Attention bandits!” or “La belle histoire” or Bertrand Blier in “Merci la vie”. But the filmmaker with whom he worked the most was undoubtedly Edouard Molinaro (“L’amour en douce”, “Palace”, “A gauche en sortir de l’ascenseur”. He was also a television actor. He thus played in around sixty television films and series. His last appearance on screen was in 2013, in the television film “Une bonne leçon” (TF1) by Bruno Garcia, alongside Ingrid Chauvin and Frédéric Diefenthal.

But Jean-Michel Dupuis was above all a man of the theatre. One of his last plays? “Le prénom” in 2010, for which he was nominated for a Molière. The actor was also nominated for the plays “Conversations after a funeral”, “Waiting for Godot”, “Les portes du ciel”, “La Danse de l’albatros” and “Le Mensonge”, his last play performed in 2015.
