The Royal in Tavannes pulls out all the stops

An end to the tour, artists already well recognized and the first “alone on stage”. The Royal in Tavannes promises good performances for the first part of its 2025 program, presented this Friday to the press.

One of the committee’s favorites? Gardi Hutter. After 44 years of touring and 4,444 performances, the internationally renowned clown will come to Tavannes before leaving the stage for good. As usual, she will not speak. How to put on a show without saying a word? “With gestures, onomatopoeia and grunts for example. It’s so funny that it leaves no room for words,” explains Simon Bertholet, head of programming at the Royal.

Another surprise from the spring program at the Royal in Tavannes, piano star Alain Roche. We were able to see the Jura player at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games. This time, he will not be suspended and will not play vertically. But you will have to get up early to listen to it, at 5:45 a.m., so that the concert begins in the dark and ends right at daybreak.

Several artists will unveil their theatrical creation or their “only one on stage” for the first time. A lack of experience which is not synonymous with a drop in quality, according to Simon Bertholet. “They come well prepared and it’s a chance to give them opportunities.”

The Royal is offering numerous dates this spring to compensate for the fall season, which has been struggling to attract crowds for several years. The committee is not worried about this, however. He looks forward to welcoming the curious from January 25. /ehe
