José failed at the gates of the final test in the television show The Best Pastry Chef broadcast last night, Thursday January 9, 2025.
After making a magnificent chocolate globe representing his wish to one day travel around the world, the candidate who lives in Morbihan was eliminated from the competition after the technical test. It consisted of reproducing the queens cake by Nina Métayer (world pastry champion).
Unfortunately, José did not succeed in finalizing his creation, his caramelized lace crown accidentally breaking when unmolding.
A solid pastry chef
Once the two finalists were announced, Cyril Lignac and Mercotte, the two juries, turned to José to congratulate him on his fine performance: “It didn’t come down to much (…). You remain a very great finalist, a solid pastry chef, who makes good cakes technically and also tactically. »
The oldest candidate said he was happy with his participation, where he “learned a lot of things”, judging the verdict “totally fair. I expected no less, no more. »
In the final face-to-face, it is the youngest in the competition, Timothée, 16 years old, who wins. His name will remain engraved in the history of the show since not only is he the youngest winner but also the first to have won the most technical tests in the entire history of Best Pastry Chef. Which shows, as Corneille said, “value does not depend on the number of years”!
