Labastide-Saint-Pierre. With his saxophone, Sylvain Maréchal shares a beautiful solo

the essential
In his studio, is an escape, like a world without false notes.

Music seems more beautiful when, while listening to it, we associate it with images that appeal to our imagination. There are probably some snap creative decisions in the music that has been heard in Labastide-Saint-Pierre recently, after the passage of Saxtunes who exploded some triumphant melodies. In the old converted garage of his house in Campsas, Sylvain Maréchal lines up the saxophones next to a computer where his creativity is not always the result of improvisation. This musician develops a melodious and lively artistic activity. “I am a saxophonist, a passion that emerged when, as a child, in a primary school in Ariège, a speaker came to play the theme of the show “Sacrée soir” with his saxophone,” Sylvain remembers. A dazzling and lasting revelation. “This sound convinced me, I was captivated. I still remember that when I got home, I told my parents that I wanted to play this instrument.” An eternal sound, a beautiful litany is always a tender companion for those who know how to listen to it. “I quickly learned music theory and saxophone in a school, departmental orchestra, big band and jazz quintet punctuated my adolescence.” His stage name, invented a few years ago, is spreading calmly, and it was after the health crisis that this enthusiast started playing more music than usual. “I rethought my project, then I launched several online initiatives, with training and tutorials.”

Host events

In front of his screen, the mind leads him to create sites, blogs, and he reveals himself on social networks. “I practice in my free time, with the desire to share online training and challenges by covering famous titles and great jazz standards.”

If he has chosen to favor a more conventional career rather than dedicate himself exclusively to instrumental practice, Sylvain hosts festive events while remaining in the rhythm. Birthdays, weddings, company meals, seminars or other events, there is no shortage of performances. “I am currently devoting myself to composition work, eight pieces which are just waiting to be combined with an album to be released soon, where I invite musician friends.” An eclectic approach, like his musical influences which are very varied: from the horizons of jazz, funk or soul. We perceive the flights of Maceo Parker or Michael Brecker. “I always try to work on a concentrate of music in order to synthesize all the influences that have left their mark on me.” Father of three children, Sylvain distills, from his studio, refrains that do not escape our ears, he who loves to share so much. Aesthetics and sound, an ultimately promising path to glimpse another world.
