Where is Théo Courcoux? The gray areas surrounding the disappearance of this 21-year-old young man on December 1, 2023, continue to grow. For his family, he was the model boy, full of life, in a relationship, who was already planning to build his house with his partner. Interventions made in the program Call for Witnesses now reveal another reality, mixing trafficking and debts.
On the set of the show Call for witnesses broadcast on M6 Wednesday January 8, Théo’s mother and sister were present. Shot down. Also behind the scenes was his girlfriend, Leelou.
But it has already been more than a year since those close to Théo Courcoux have had any news from the 21-year-old Nazairian. On Friday December 1, 2023, the young man, newly hired on a permanent contract at Airbus, mysteriously disappeared after leaving work late in the afternoon. Worried about not seeing him arrive, Leelou, to whom he was supposed to go at 8:30 p.m., alerted Tatiana, Théo’s sister, who in turn informed her mother that Théo was nowhere to be found.
“It’s an abyss beneath our feet […] At that precise moment, it felt like a stab in the stomach. This is where the whole nightmare begins […] Théo, my son, disappeared, without any trace,” says Magali Glotin, the mother of the family.
On the Airbus company cameras, Théo is seen at the end of his working day, entering his car. Thanks to information on the location of the young man’s phone provided by a police officer, his relatives tried to find his trace, in vain. Until 1 a.m., when his best friend found Théo’s car, abandoned in the Brivet parking lot, located at the foot of the Saint-Nazaire bridge (Loire-Atlantique).
Where did this young man go, whose life appeared stable, and who was already considering plans for his future home? The investigators “studied the slightest lead, followed the slightest rumor, lifted every stone in Saint-Nazaire, but it’s an impasse”, indicates Patricia Dudouit, departmental delegate of the Assistance and Search for Missing Persons association, cited by This is Loire Ocean.
Traffic and debts, new avenues?
However, testimonies collected live on the show could tip the investigation. “What I am going to say is not going to please the mother,” declared an anonymous speaker from the outset, who was based on the confidences of a friend. He claimed Theo was “trafficking contraband cigarettes.” The latter would regularly frequent deal points, and “did business with people who were not very Catholic”.
According to the mother, the gendarmes in charge of the investigation confirmed to the family that they had discovered that Théo could happen to “sell a few cartons of cigarettes, (but) nothing conclusive”.
-According to the speaker contacted by telephone, a video surveillance camera installed on a boat filmed Théo, traveling on foot the evening of his disappearance. “He was walking along the Brivet (Loire-Atlantique river) to go to a vacant lot which is a deal point. According to the video, they saw him passing with a sleeveless black down jacket, but they did not never saw him come back.”
If his mother and sister declare having heard of the cigarette “business” in which Théo was engaged, they affirm not to know these new details mentioned, and say they are surprised that their son and brother was involved in such a matter.
Other phone calls received directly by Julien Courbet seem to corroborate these facts.
According to a speaker, Théo would have been involved in “trafficking linked to people of Polish nationality”. People to whom Théo would have had a debt, possibly of “10,000 euros”, mentioned the host.
However, none of these testimonies have been confirmed by investigators.
A reconstruction of the young man’s journey before his disappearance also reveals certain gray areas. At 6:33 p.m., shortly after leaving work, he took the Saint-Nazaire bridge, direction Saint-Brevin-les-Pins. He turned around a short time later, heading towards Saint-Nazaire, but then stopped in the Brivet parking lot, where his car was found.
The mystery therefore remains complete. The case is being handled by the Nantes criminal division.
