When French artists dominate album sales

According to figures from the National Syndicate of Phonographic Edition, the top 200 best album sales of 2024 are largely dominated by French musicians. From Werenoi to Zaho de Sagazan via JUL.

Despite a colossal musical offering across the Channel and across the Atlantic, in 2024, the French have favored French artists. According to the ranking of the National Phonographic Publishing Union (SNEP) which has just been published, the albums which have been sold the most in are the work of local musicians.

The first place in this top 200 is thus occupied by the rapper from Werenoi for his record Pyramid 2followed by Parisian rapper PLK for Room 140 then Indochine and its album Babylon Babylon.

Note that the rapper includes not one, but eight albums in this top 200, and this for the second year in a row.

In total, 18 of the 20 best-selling records are tricolor, accounting for more than 14 million physical CDs sold. French success is also illustrated on streaming platforms, where French artists have gleaned 138 billion streams in 2024, which represents an increase of 14% compared to 2023. But that’s not all: within this top delivered by the music union, 145 albums produced in France appear in the 200 best sales of 2024. Cocorico!
