In her shop called “La Brocanteureuse”, this enthusiast offers beautiful things and rare objects steeped in history.

“I have always loved hunting, at garage sales and flea markets. I like to know where objects come from, their history.” It was therefore almost natural that his passion very quickly became “his profession”, with the opening on July 12 of La Brocanteureuse, at 10 avenue Albert-Thomas.

After starting a Deug psychology, Marylou enrolled at the School of Fine Arts in . “I wanted to train in art therapy. I stopped when my son Nolan was born. So I had to find a so-called food job.”

The next part of the journey is first of all a retraining in the medico-social field. “I wanted to be a medical-psychological assistant, and support people with artistic activities. I did this job for six years.” After a period of personal reflection and a little rest, Marylou spots an ad on a classifieds site. “A second-hand dealer gave away his business, free of charge, but he had to take everything and empty his shed immediately. My father then lent me a place where we stored everything.”

The next step is to set up empty houses. “I did three, knowing that each empty house can last two months. Then, I trained as an e-commerce salesperson and set up as a self-employed person and sold on the internet.”

Finally, after support on entrepreneurship organized by the 3CS (with ADEFPAT), she found the premises which used to be a grocery store. “I changed my status to an individual enterprise (EI), and thus benefit from assistance with the installation of the 3CS”.

Today, La Brocanteureuse opens its doors on Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
“I can go to people’s homes within a 50 km radius. I can also buy from photos, and I can also look for an object at people’s request, I also have an advisory role.”

In the window of the Brocanteureuse, it is written in chalk, on a vintage slate. “Treasure hunts here, Wednesday to Saturday.” All you have to do is open the door to this magical and beautiful place, where Marylou the second-hand dealer awaits you… happy!
