“The Night will carry us away”: Mahi Binebine pays a vibrant tribute to her mother

The novel tells the story of a courageous woman, abandoned to her fate with seven children to support, but who, despite adversity, never stops believing in her dreams. “She showed us the path to follow, teaching us to never give up,” he says with emotion.

Inspired by his own life, this very personal autobiographical novel combines fictional characters and real memories. Binebine uses several subtle literary devices, such as digressions and dreams, to captivate his readers.

Born in Marrakech, Mahi Binebine is internationally recognized for his striking works, translated into several languages. Among his literary successes, we find: The Sleep of the Slave (1992), Burnt Umber (2004), The Griot of Marrakech (2005), The Stars of Sidi Moumen (2009) and Rue du Pardon (2019) .

His literary talents have been recognized several times, with prestigious distinctions such as the Mediterranean Prize for The Sleep of the Slave and the Arab Novel Prize in 2010 for The Stars of Sidi Moumen.
