Actor Obi Ndefo, known for his role in the series “Dawson”, has died at the age of 51

The actor seen in the early 2000s in about ten episodes of the cult teen series has died, his sister Nkem Ndefo announced. She did not reveal the cause of his death.

American actor Obi Ndefo, known for his role as Bodie Wells in the series Dawsondied on Saturday at the age of 51, his sister Nkem Ndefo announced on her Facebook account without disclosing the causes of his death.

“I am heartbroken to learn of the death of my younger brother. I know he is finally at peace,” Nkem Ndefo wrote on social media in the caption of a photo showing her all smiles with her brother.

Obi Ndefo studied drama at Yale University in the United States. He began his television career in 1995 in an episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

He then appeared in several successful series such as The Jamie Foxx Show, Angel, Columbo, NYPD Blue, At the White House et Stargate SG-1. He was best known for his role in the teen series Dawson between 1998 and 2002.

“A miracle”

Odi Ndefo played the role of Bodie Wells in the cult series of the 2000s, who works with Gale, Dawson’s mother, in her restaurant in the town of Capeside. He appears in ten episodes of seasons 1, 3, 4 and 6 of Dawson.

Mary-Margaret Humes, who played Dawson’s mother, paid tribute to him on Instagram: “It’s hard to believe you’re gone, my dear friend. You will always be an example of pure love and tenacity.”

The actor lost both legs after being hit by a drunk driver in 2019. He has since learned to walk again with the help of prosthetics. At the time of his accident, his doctor said his survival was “a miracle.”
