Brad Pitt takes on assassins in this action film from the director of John Wick

Tonight TF1 is airing “Bullet Train” with Brad Pitt in the role of a killer named Coccinelle. The film was a success in theaters, then on Prime Video when it was released on the streaming platform.

Bullet Train : Brad Pitt, an assassin like no other

Brad Pitt is one of those actors whose aura influences the roles. Putting this actor in a cheesy outfit or having him play a clumsy character can increase the humorous effect tenfold. As in Burn After Reading (2008), with that improbable Brad Pitt look. Or in Bullet Train (2022)in which the star appears with a bob on the head and big glasses. Not to mention his character’s code name: Ladybug. A combination that makes the assassin he plays in the film immediately sympathetic because it is difficult to take seriously. Even more so when we learn that he is extremely unlucky and that he would be responsible in spite of himself for the death of innocent people on each of his missions.

So it is reluctantly that he accepts a new mission, presented as a simple delivery of a briefcase, which he must pick up on a train. Of course, things will not be so easy. Since On the same train there are other killers who either also have a contract on this briefcase or want to get revenge on Coccinelle. His journey between Tokyo and Morioka therefore promises to be deadly.

The presence of Brad Pitt is the first interest of Bullet Train. The actor is particularly amusing in his sloppy style, which gives the impression that he is not at all professional. But the film also benefits other famous facesincluding Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, Joey King, Zazie Beetz, Hiroyuki Sanada and Sandra Bullock, who communicates remotely with Coccinelle. The action proposed by David Leitch (saga John Wick) is sometimes a little messy, but overall it remains pleasant (see our review).

A success on all screens

When it hits theaters in August 2022, Bullet Train had no trouble making a profit. Made on a budget of around $85 million, the film grossed almost 240 million recipes worldwide. In France, it had accumulated more than 1.5 million admissions. And it is not only at the cinema that David Leitch’s film has attracted people. Two years after its theatrical release, Bullet Train was a hit on Prime Video. A success that must have pleased Aaron Taylor-Johnson above all, who gave his all on the set. Indeed, the actor injured his hand while filming a fight sequence, and even fainted. If at that moment the actor was not happy, he was able to console himself later by seeing the nice score of Bullet Train.
