Last chance to admire the ballet national d’Ukraine in Paris for these end-of-year celebrations. Two years after its previous tour, the dance company has been back since December 21, 2024 on the stage of Champs-Élysées theater to perform his ballet The Snow Queen. In this completely reworked version, the original Russian music has been banned, while the war continues to rage and forces the dancers to adapt.
A show without Russian music
In 2022, the Ukrainian company was on this same stage and presented Giselleten months after the start of the war started by Russia in Ukraine. A moment of strong emotion, the public saluting the resilience and courage of a troupe continuing their art despite the bombs.
-Since then, despite difficult living and working conditions, the company has continued to perform at the kyiv theater. Once again invited by the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, this time she offers a danced interpretation of Andersen’s eponymous tale to music by Grieg, Massenet, Offenbach, Johann Strauss and Berlioz, which replaced the Russian music used in the creation of this ballet created in 2015 by Aniko Rekhviashvili.
We follow the story of young Gerda and her fight against an evil and icy enemy. On stage, a sixty dancers evolve in marvelous costumes and settings.
