Alongside the match between Anderlecht and Dender, Sint-Truiden hosted Cercle in a meeting between two teams who have been giving everything to escape the red zone for many weeks.
It was the Circle which quickly took the lead, Kazeem Olaigbe taking a center under the nose of a Trudonnaire defense that was far too passive. Adriano Bertaccini thought he would equalize straight away, but his shot went just wide of the goal.
The STVV gets frustrated
Stung to the quick, Saint-Trond then stormed the Cercle rectangle (73% ball possession, 26 shots). But if the Canaries are there, it is also because of their lack of success.
It took a corner taken by Rein Van Helden to equalize 20 minutes from time. Felice Mazzu’s troops even pushed, hoping to achieve a precious victory, in vain.
Sint-Truiden thus remains two points behind its direct opponent, four points behind Westerlo, the first team outside the red zone.
