Lemon Tree fulfills its purpose

Winner of one of the first Group III of his generation at 2 years old (Prix Timoko), Lemon Tree records a second success at this level and offers a nice Christmas present to William Bigeon. The son of Face Time Bourbon does not miss the great opportunity that he discovered at the winnings ceiling: “That was his end-of-year goal. He’s doing it in a good way moving forward. This is no surprise to me. He took fourth place in the Critérium des Jeunes. Returning to competition at the end of the summer in the provinces, he ran well (6th) in a group II at the start of the meeting. Here he trots 1’12’8, which is very good” learns William Bigeon. Indeed, Lemon Tree achieved the best time of the second half over the 2,700 meters in this generation (better than Lovino Bello in 1’13’1 during his victory in the Critérium des 3 ans), down from Lombok Night (winner in 1’12’ in the Prix Albert Viel in June): “JI had orders to be in the match. Winning from start to finish at this level is becoming increasingly rare. He has shown himself to be good at repelling attacks” says Benjamin Rochard, its pilot. The next outing should take Lemon Tree towards the Prix Ourasi (group I), January 25: “He had time to recover. He had a real race but it will have done him good. He will be unionized soon and will breed next year at Hunter Valley. He has a very good paper” justifies William, whose start to the winter meeting proved very satisfactory with eight victories and ten places out of thirty-five starters.

Good finisher in the middle of the track, Learn to Fly made an illusion of victory before Lemon Tree pushes him back to the end: “He didn’t give up. I am satisfied with my horse” expresses Éric Raffin, while Light My Fireoffset at the intersection of the tracks in the wake of the future winner, came up against his rival until the end, finishing very close without deserving.
