Malik Bentalha canceled a film because of his weight
“It’s something pernicious, vicious, we’re in denial. Today, with social networks, the advent of Instagram, we are forbidden from going bad. I locked myself away at all levels, I stayed at home looking at the cell phone, eating, I let myself sink, I gained weight“, Malik Bentalha declared this Thursday, December 26 in Le Parisien about his depression. His weight gain was such that he decided, reluctantly, to abandon a film in which he had “very want“to play.”At costume fittings, I started lying about my size. I was sabotaging myself. Three weeks before filming, I told the director that I couldn't make the film, that I wouldn't be able to watch myself on screen. It was no longer possible… Either I locked myself in my lair, or I decided to get up to come back stronger“, explains the actor who decided to take up sport and eat better.
Malik Bentalha reveals his new lifestyle
In April 2023, during his very first cardio session, Malik Bentalha weighed 122 kilos. “After 10 minutes (of running) at 5 km/h, I hurt everywhere. But I continued step by step. No operation, no nothing. I exercise every morning, and I ate watermelon, a lot of watermelon (laughs)! My drug has always been sugar. I started eating salads“, says the man who now weighs 70 kilos. From November 2023, Malik Bentalha came back in force, feeling better about himself, with a parody of Pascal Praud's show Time for the pros. Snubbed by the media and preferring to boycott Canal+, he made his return to social networks, a surprise. Immediately, the success was phenomenal: his parody has nearly 35 million views on the social network X alone (formerly Twitter, editor's note). His YouTube channel, on which he also publishes his sketches, is preparing to reach the threshold of 50 million views. As he continues his tour until April with his last single on stage New Worldthe actor who was defrauded by a producer at the start of his career also returns to success in the cinema: he still lends his voice to the hero of the films Sonicthe third part of which has already been a success at the French box office since its release this Wednesday, December 25.
