the Petit Théâtre de Pain gave an overview of its work in creation “Almost equal to”

Wednesday, December 18, the company Le Petit Théâtre de Pain, based at the Harri xuri hall in Louhossoa, invited its “followers” to attend a state of work of the piece in creation “Almost equal to” by Jonas Hassen Khemiri.

Original stage where, according to their usual working method, the roles are not yet distributed, everyone can slip into the shoes of the characters at will. For this creation, the troupe's choice is to present this contemporary comedy in the form of a radio play. On stage, several microphones are placed, in the background, on a table, the artists provide the sound effects and background sounds, thus imaging the environments, the musical creation of Patrick Ingueneau subtly dressing the atmosphere.

Vision of capitalism

In this stage of work, two scenes are sketched, but the magic is already happening: we laugh at this cynicism focused on the vision of capitalism and this schizophrenic relationship with money. We interfere in the daily life of Martina, who, coming from a wealthy social background and subscribing to boring jobs, dreams of an organic farm.

The author, a Swedish playwright of Tunisian origin, winner of several literary prizes, studied literature and international economics at the Stockholm School of Economics. The culture of his country, Sweden, guides the discourse here, dictated by decorum: people are not inclined to say directly what they think, they silence their little inner voices to respond to the customs of society.

“This radio story also came from there, it is the mise en abyme of the voice”, remarks Mariya Aneva who signs the production alongside Fafiole Palassio. After this sketch, we can't wait to see the premiere, scheduled for May 24, 2025. They will play in a public space in Hendaye then do their tour before presenting this creation, in the premiere, in a room, on October 25, to Harri xuri, guests by the Accords association.
