Flavien Prat to finish in style

The end-of-year celebrations promise to be busy for Flavien Prat, who has his best vintage across the Atlantic. Guaranteed to enter the American annals by becoming the first European jockey to be crowned “Champion Jockey” with already nearly 36.8 million dollars in winnings, the eldest son of Frédéric Prat can break the record (55) of victories of groups (grade stakes) of Jerry Bailey, aged 21, which he equaled on December 7 at Aqueduct in the saddle on Poster in the Remsen Stakes. Six groups, including three at the highest level with $300,000 in allocation (Malibu Stakes, La Brea Stakes and American Oaks Stakes), are scheduled for this Thursday, December 26 at Santa Anita. Flavien Prat, whose collaboration with agent Brad Pegram has proven to be most fruitful since he won 16 Group Is this year with 14 different thoroughbreds, will saddle up in each of the “graded stakes”. US bookmakers believe he is capable of carrying out his task, particularly with King of Gosford (Mathis Mile Stakes, 6/5) but also One Magic Philly (La Brea Stakes, 4/1) and Senior Officer (Malibu Stakes, 5/1). Seal Team (San Gabriel Stakes, 8/1), Goldeneye (Laffit Pincay, Jr. Stakes, 12/1) and Chatalas (American Oaks, 15/1) only have an underdog chance beforehand. The breeding of Flavien Prat is also declared on Month (Robert J. Frankel Stakes, 8/1) on Friday, December 27 and on Central Dispatch (Joe Hernandez Stakes, 4/1), the next day. Winner in early November at Del Mar of his second Breeders' Cup Classic in the saddle on Sierra LeoneFlavien Prat is tipped to win the prestigious Eclipse Award for best jockey (Eclipse Award for Outsanding Jockey), 15 years after Julien Leparoux, the one and only Frenchman on the list.
