“Aitzina Biga”, a new creation around dance, will be released in spring 2025

Founded in the 1990s, the Aitzindariak association (named after the dancers who open the masquerade procession) is today made up of numerous dance masters and various Souletin cultural actors. All year round, they run educational projects linked to dancing and singing for children. “We prepare them to reach the highest artistic level in adulthood, while placing emphasis on learning the Basque language,” explains Jean Bordachar, member of the office.

This association is preparing the show “Aitzina Biga” which will premiere on Saturday April 19, 2025 (Easter Eve) at the jai alai in Mauléon. “It is an intergenerational artistic creation, imagined and implemented by our members,” explains the organizing committee. “This project was born from a territorial diagnosis carried out by a young employee at the Soule dance schools. The design of “Aitzina Biga” comes from a large team from different villages. They decided to work together with the help of a few external stakeholders,” he continues.

Three paintings will make up this show. “The challenge in Souletine culture, fiction or reality? » The first part will try to answer this question. “Transmission, by whom and why? » will be the theme of the 2nd table which will be followed by the 3rd on this new question: “Open-mindedness and cultural exchanges, signs of identity belonging? “.
