The Espace Dan Ar Braz resonated with the sound of Breton music, this Sunday, December 22, 2024 afternoon, on the occasion of the end-of-year fest-deiz, organized by Bagad Kemper. A tradition which brought together nearly 500 dancers and lovers of local culture, in a warm atmosphere, a few days before Christmas.
“This event, born in 1962, took place until 2013 in the Chapeau-Rouge room, before being interrupted due to development work on the convention center,” explains Sébastien Le Braz, president of the association which has nearly 200 members. “In 2023, we decided to relaunch this meeting in the large room of the Espace Dan Ar Braz. »
Groups serving dance
During the afternoon, participants danced gavottes and an dro, guided by the performances of Bagad Kemper, but also Bagad Brieg, the Mahévas brothers and the Konoz and Straed groups. A real fest-noz in a daytime version, celebrating the richness of Breton heritage.
A year full of events
Sébastien Le Braz took the opportunity to take stock of a year marked by many highlights. Among them, the trip of the bagad to Dublin for the St. Patrick's Day festivities, the creation of Kenson, a concerto for bagad performed at the Théâtre de Cornouaille in collaboration with the Orchester National de Bretagne, and a third place obtained during the championship first category bagadù, on August 10 in Lorient.
A tribute to an emblematic figure
The president also paid tribute to Marc Gouedic, emblematic member of Bagad Kemper for 52 years. This bass drum player is ending his musical career, while continuing his community involvement within the group. For dancers and music lovers, this edition of fest-deiz was a great way to end the year 2024 and celebrate Breton culture, dance and music together.
