Lorus and Célia Douvier Hutinet exhibit “Amor pour la vie” at the Maison des arts

“Amor pour la vie” is a global project proposed by the sculptor Lorus and Célia Douvier Hutinet at the Maison des arts de Gujan-Mestras from Sunday December 22 and until Saturday December 28. This is an exhibition of sculptures, photographs with dedications and conferences.

Lorus presents the nine sculptures of the project, made on old tombstones dedicated to destruction and recovered by the sculptor. “We go back in time starting from matter to arrive at spirituality,” indicates the artist. Each of the sculptures carries messages and tells stories based on the engraved names or the places where the tombstones were recovered. More simply, they can translate the message that Lorus wants to convey through this work.

“This is a first in the history of art. After having transmitted a message on the tombs they decorated, I give them another life and allow them to transmit something else,” explains the artist.

A book and photos

The story couldn't end there. It had to be explained, magnified. From there was born “Amor pour la vie”, the joint work of Célia and Lorus to extend the history of these sculptures and their message of life and love.

“With this book, we tried to discover the world through science which meets spirituality,” explains the couple. The work was published self-published “to keep control of the project” and is illustrated by Célia’s photographs. “It’s my take on Lorus’s sculptures,” she confides.

In this exhibition, Célia, who fell into photography as a child, hung her photos on the walls of the Maison des arts. “I observe to appropriate moments that do not belong to me,” she explains while presenting her photos. These are places, moments where everyone can write their story by observing them. “It’s the habit of making the abstract with the concrete,” declares Célia Douvier Hutinet.

Free entry from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., aperitif conferences will be given on December 22 and 28 at 6:30 p.m.
