Meeting with two women from the African audiovisual scene

On the African continent, the audiovisual sector could create 20 million jobs and contribute $20 billion to GDP, according to enthusiastic projections from UNESCO. It must be said that with more than a billion spectators or potential viewers, the demand for series, films, shows and locally produced products remains to be satisfied.

Seeing their expansion in African markets, industry giants Netflix, Disney and Canal+ have well understood the challenges. While the cultural sectors are still little valued on the continent, and there is a lack of trained people, how can we create locally? Khady Touré and Angela Aquereburu are both professionals in the sector, what are their backgrounds? What future do they imagine for African audiovisual? And what place for women in a highly competitive environment?
