A special link with France

Throughout her career, the now 78-year-old singer will have spent wonderful times in France with other famous names. “I have lots of good memories in France. I’ve been vacationing there my whole life. We feel free when we are at home,” she said. If she met Johnny Hallyday and Sylvie Vartan there, it was her meeting with a certain Brigitte Bardot which marked her even more.

« [Elle] invited me to dinner several times,” Cher recalls. “The first, in the 80s. She took me to a garden where we were alone with a guitarist. She was standing against a wall and I was like, ‘Oh my God, I’m with Brigitte Bardot!’

Cher’s last visit to France dates back to last May, when in the middle of the Film Festival, she went to the annual amfAR gala. The diva then arrived on the arm of her companion, music producer Alexander Edwards, 40 years her junior.
