Mowgli’s enchanted journey in a musical tale

the essential
“The Jungle Book, the Musical” comes to the Horizon Pyrénées room on Saturday December 21 at 2 p.m. and there are still places left.

The story of Mowgli, the human cub raised by wolves, lights up in the spotlight of a modern musical comedy. Adapted from Rudyard Kipling’s masterpiece, this show offers a renewed reading of the original story. Igor de Chaille, co-author says: “We started from Kipling’s original story, but we wanted to bring it up to date. It is a reading oriented towards ecology, the preservation of the planet and respect for each other.”

A visual and musical spectacle for the whole family

With its eight actors, singers and dancers, and its enchanting costumes, “The Jungle Book” transforms the stage into a true ecosystem. Bagheera, Baloo, the elephants, and even the sinister Kaa and Shere Khan come to life thanks to masks and giant puppets, in an aesthetic evoking the mythical “Lion King”. “We wanted the children to be able to identify themselves straight away,” explains Igor de Chaille. “This goes through the costumes, but also through the gestures of each character.” On the music side, the songs and melodies are entirely composed for this adaptation. “This show is for the whole family,” says Igor. “Children can follow the simple plot, while adults find more subtle messages and sometimes a second degree of fun.”

A universal message, carried by emotion

“A show is successful, for us, when it gets all generations talking,” underlines Igor de Chaille. “When children, parents and grandparents share common emotions and thoughts.”

After having enchanted the spectators of the Folies Bergère and toured , Belgium, Switzerland, and Morocco, this musical, nominated for the Molières 2018 in the Young Audience Show category, continues its incredible adventure. “In line with other productions like “Aladdin” or “The Mysterious Cities of Gold”, “The Jungle Book” solicits emotions while conveying a strong message,” concludes Igor. All you have to do is discover how the strength of the pack and the wolf comes to life on stage.
