Convinced that “her revolt is at the origin of our century”, as she indicated in her address to the President of the Republic, overwhelmed by “the exceptional strength” of George Sand, Juliette Binoche took the head of this first list of personalities from all backgrounds, sharing the concern to see an artist and her struggles recognized by the Nation.
“This tribute would salute the legitimacy of her republican commitment, her career, her choices, and the place she occupied throughout the 19th century in France and beyond. Above all, it would recognize her unfailing political and social commitment to democracy, universal suffrage, the emancipation of women and the improvement of the human condition, as well as her ecological, pioneering and visionary fight,” underlines the Oscar-winning actress.
