the essential
In July 2025, the 20th anniversary edition promises to be colorful, with a rich and varied program.
The Musique, cours et granges association, organizer of the Montcuq Text Song Festival, will celebrate its twentieth anniversary in 2025. The poster for the next edition, which will take place from July 17 to 19, in the courtyard of the Montcuq college, is up to the occasion.
The artistic director, singer Gérard Morel, has put together an attractive program, which combines experience and youth, and highlights the richness of French song, its variety and the talent of its performers.
A little surprise concert for the 20th anniversary
The launch of the festival will take place on July 16, at 7 p.m., with a small surprise 20th anniversary concert, free and open to all. Thursday, July 17, the guest is the winner of the Young Talents competition of the Jacques Brel festival: Yoanna, a performer with boundless energy, provocative and cheeky, who serves with dizzying verve some well-felt truths. That evening, the duo Alexis HK and Benoît Doremus will deliver a funny, moving and poetic show. The two singers will ramble, confabulate, and delve with relish into the “Inavowable”.
Friday July 18, Quebec singer Steve Normandin will shed new light on the recording heritage and the work of performers, sometimes unknown, left by an icon of French song: Édith Piaf. Then, in a performance that is as musical as it is poetic, the slammer Govrache will talk about the world around him. The subject is precise, the texts very present, the diction impeccable, the interpretation fair and embodied.
Meetings with artists in the morning
Saturday July 19, the guest is a unique personality who needs no introduction: Juliette. Testifying to her longevity and her influence in the cultural landscape of France, Juliette embodies an essential figure in French song, combining humor, originality and commitment. Fanny Candéli, winner of the 2024 café chantant, will perform the first part of this concert, evoking with tenderness and sincerity chronicles and slices of personal life.
Three major events will punctuate each of the three days of the festival: the late morning meeting with the artists, the singing café on the terrace of the Rocking Horse at 4 p.m., with a winner who will be chosen and scheduled for 2026, then open-air concerts, at 9 p.m.
