Wesley Forstinger, creator of Miss Lorraine’s regional costume for the Miss France 2025 election, finds himself at the heart of an unexpected controversy. The outfit worn by Assia Roosz-Tomenti, compared by Internet users to that of a “Power Ranger”, sparked mockery and criticism on X. However, according to the designer, the origin of the problem is simple: “The suit was worn inside out.” An error which completely obscured the symbols of the costume, including the scales and the Graoully, the emblematic dragon of the region.
“The cape was not installed correctly and the crown was placed haphazardly,” regrets Wesley Forstinger. Aware of the enormous pressure placed on the shoulders of Miss Lorraine and the dressers, he does not blame the young candidate, but wonders: “How could this happen?” Disappointed that his work was not highlighted, he recalls that he accepted this project voluntarily, in a context where it is becoming difficult to find designers ready to take on the challenge of regional costumes.
Despite the criticism, the creator received an outpouring of support. He says he hopes for a second wind for his creation: a shooting of Miss Lorraine in the costume, staged in front of the stained glass windows of Metz Cathedral. “This costume had lots of symbols, but all that was wasted,” he emphasizes with bitterness, while remaining hopeful that his work will eventually be recognized for its true value.
