For this holiday season, the Department’s cultural facilities have put together a program that you can enjoy alone, with family or friends.

At the departmental museum of Flanders (Cassel)

  • Knock, knock, knock… Entrez! : early learning course for 0-3 year olds. Duration 45 min.
    Friday December 27 and January 3 at 10:30 a.m. Prices: €8 for under 18s, free for 1stis accompanying. By reservation.
  • The True Story of Barbara, Princess of Fire : story told in which you are the hero. Duration 1h15.
    Thursday December 26 and January 2, Saturday December 28 and January 4 at 3 p.m. Prices: €8 for under 18s, free for 1stis accompanying. By reservation.
  • Immediate takeoff : manufacturing a miniature machine from recycled materials. Duration 1h30.

  • Portrait on the wire : graphics and weaving on paper. Duration: 2 hours.

  • Hermogenes’ surprise : introduction to role play. Duration 2h30.

At the Departmental Archives of the North ()

  • Soldier Journey Workshop : guided tour and introduction to research in archive documents to retrace a life journey. Duration: 1h30.
    Thursday 26, Friday 27 and Monday 30 December from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. From 11 years old, presence of an adult required for minors. Free. By reservation.
  • The “Graff and War” exhibition : graffiti, stencil, collage, sculpture, drawing… so many forms of expression that urban artists have explored to express their views on the two world conflicts.

At the Departmental Science Forum (Villeneuve-d’Ascq)

  • Seasons : discover the astronomical phenomena behind seasonal changes. Duration 1h15.

At the Charles de Gaulle birthplace (Lille)

  • Fun guided tours : games, reflection, challenges and good humor punctuate this visit through the rooms of the Birthplace. Duration 1 hour.
    Mondays, December 23 and 30, at 3 p.m. and Thursdays, December 26 and January 2, at 3 p.m. From 7 years old. Price: Entrance ticket + €2 for the guided tour. Reservation recommended.
  • Classic guided tours : a visit to meet the young Charles de Gaulle. Discover his childhood and his family through anecdotes and short stories that made it big. Duration 1 hour.
    Saturdays December 21, 28 and January 4 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sundays December 22, 29 and January 5 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Price: Entrance ticket + €2 for the guided tour. Reservation recommended.
  • Go-y champion! : exhibition on sport under the presidency of Charles de Gaulle. The exhibition looks back at the major events that marked the 1960s.
    Until September 22, 2025. Price: entrance ticket. Reservation recommended.

At the ancient Forum of Bavay (Bavay)

Please note that the Forum antique de Bavay will be closed on Wednesday December 25 and 1is January. Closed at 4 p.m. on December 24 and 31.

At MusVerre (Sars-Poteries)

  • Breath of Winter : Christmas-themed cane blowing demonstration workshop by glass artist Victor Stokowski.
    From December 14 to 22. Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Weekends from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Without reservation.
  • Long skirts and short pants: theater of objects and puppets, story of a child who dreams of his adventure and his discovery of the world through the fascinating objects of the world of adults.
    Sunday December 22 at 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Price: museum entry for adults (€8) + €2 per child. By reservation.
  • Blowtorch demonstration : Sunday December 29, from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Atelier du Verre. Without reservation – Included in the entrance fee.
  • The screwed up revisited : visuals from the old Bousillés collection will help children create a montage using cutting and gluing.

  • Collection monochrome : collage of different materials, various transparent, opaque papers, cardboard, etc. to create a monochrome composition.

At the Henri Matisse Departmental Museum (Le Cateau-Cambrésis)

Come to the museum : plastic creation workshop preceded by a sensitive and poetic approach to works decorated by Henri Matisse.
From December 21 to January 5. Every day except Tuesdays and public holidays, from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Prices per session, equipment provided: €6 per child, €8 for an adult. By reservation.
