The Miss Auvergne committee frustrated by the umpteenth defeat of its Miss France candidate: “I have no explanation…”

If thirty candidates took to the stage on Saturday evening, at the Arena Futuroscope in Poitiers, only fifteen managed to seduce the preselection jury bringing together officials from the Miss France committee, partners of the election and even former Miss France. And to the great disappointment of Romane Agostinho’s supporters, Miss Auvergne 2024 did not have her entry ticket for the rest of the adventure.

A 27-year-old animal osteopath, Romane Agostinho therefore failed to make Miss France history by becoming the very first Miss Auvergne to be crowned. For its regional committee, which very much believed in its chances of victory, the pill is not easy to swallow after this umpteenth failure. “We had prepared her a lot, there was a lot of content on social networks, a lot of mobilization around her. And then, she had a lot of visibility in the press because of her atypical profession. or not in the top 15 was a (bad) surprise and I have no explanation”, confessed Mélanie Billard, the Miss Auvergne regional delegate, to the local newspaper The Mountain.

A reinforced system to win Miss Auvergne for Miss France

Recognizing that “the level was raised“during this election won by Angélique Angarni-Filopon (Miss Martinique), Mélanie Billard questioned the public’s votes. “In each competition, Miss Auvergne is always well highlighted. We see her clearly. This election was no exception and Romane was at the top. And then, Miss Île-de-France was also eliminated, while we cannot say that it represents a region which does not have demographic weight, and Miss Corsica was elected 3rd runner-up even though it is not the most populated region in France either“, she detailed before evoking the guideline of the Miss Auvergne committee for the next elections. “We started something with this election. There is a renewed interest in Miss Auvergne and our partners have supported us well. We will continue this mobilization work and further improve the preparation of our misses, particularly in terms of speaking, and increase their participation in events so that they are comfortable in public.”she concluded.
