Following extensive research, Henri Aussaguès, passionate about local history, put the finishing touches to a work on the Sage family.
Several centuries ago, it made its appearance in the local landscape and will have left its mark over the generations, more particularly in the epic history of the textile industry. From Germain Sage, a modest fashion designer, to the industrialist Adrien Sage, three hundred years have passed for this endearing and courageous family who played a large part in the management of the city’s affairs. The family has given the town, since the Revolution, a long succession of mayors, teachers, justices of the peace, and has distinguished itself in the textile industry.
The whole point of Henri Aussaguès’ approach is, on the one hand, to link the evolution of the Sages to that of the town, in reference to the major developments in the history of France. This will constitute an invaluable testimony to enlighten the reader, both on the vicissitudes of Laroque-d’Olmes over the centuries and on the evolution of industry in Pays d’Olmes. The work, now completed for its editorial part, is submitted to a reading committee made up of members of the Maison Sage association.
Ultimately, the consistency and relevance of this testimony will lead the association to meet with the municipality to discuss the possibility of porting its edition, during the year 2025.
