An end of the year marked by the anger of the people

The end of the year will have been trying for the Spanish royal family. Notably at the beginning of November when, five days after the start of the deadly floods in Valencia, King Felipe VI and his wife Queen Letizia went to the region to support local populations facing the loss of their homes and loved ones.

In the midst of extreme tension, which required the intervention of mounted police to push back the most violent protesters, Felipe and Letizia then received mud on their faces and on their clothes. “Assassins ! Assassins !”exasperated residents then shouted, mainly targeting the politicians accompanying the royal couple, as reported by AFP. An unprecedented episode in the history of the Spanish monarchy.
