“We are going to leave these prison walls,” said Gilbert Montagné in his cult song We’re going to love each otherreleased in 1983. There will be no prison.

But the artist, as well as his lyricist Didier Barbelivien, were indeed sentenced by the Court of Appeal to the loss of their royalties. He must pay 30,000 euros to the authors behind A girl from (1976), tube (in French) by the Italian singer Gianni Nazzaro.

The case dates back to 2012

It was in 2012, more than 10 years ago, that Gianni Nazzaro filed a complaint. But according to the media the Informed who reveals the story, Gilbert Montagné and his lyricist never recognized this wrong assigned to them. So we had to wait many, many years.

Gianni Nazarro having died in 2021, it is Michel Cywie and Jean-Max Rivière, the authors ofA girl from France who took up the torch. They then assigned the authors ofWe’re going to love each other and his famous interpreter before the Italian justice system, thus forcing the French justice system to take a position.

The latter therefore ruled last October and delivered its verdict: it is indeed a plagiarism. Gilbert Montagné and Didier Barbelivien must therefore say goodbye to any money that this song would generate, and pay 30,000 euros in damages.

Gilbert Montagné himself plagiarized in 1988

A shame, when we know that Gilbert Montagné fought for a long time against the Flunch restaurant chain whom he accused of having copied his hit by diverting it into “We’re going to have fun ».

At the time, the singer had received 30,000 euros in rights and interests, and won this legal battle.
