the essential
The Metronum in Borderouge is honoring the urban music of Toulouse this Wednesday. On the program, three hours of show during an evening of improvised performances, acoustic hip-hop concerts, and artistic interludes presented by the rapper HYL.
Well known in the Toulouse hip-hop sphere, the K7 open-mics are based on an effective formula: professional musicians serve singers, rappers or slammers from the public. Everyone can climb on stage and let themselves be carried away.
To celebrate the fiftieth iteration of these meetings, this Wednesday at the Metronum, the organizers are exceptionally offering three hours of discovery of local talents, past, present and future for an “all stars” edition. Thus, in addition to the motivated people in the crowd, the “best MCs who took the stage this year and those who have marked the history of K7” are invited, explains HYL, the master of ceremonies for three years.
For the occasion, these special guests (Mel, The crew, Kaïln, N! z, Akiam, Lu’k…) worked on new versions of their pieces with the group of musicians. The icing on the cake, the world beatbox champions (the Kowler Rangers) will join forces with breakdancers (the Phantom Brigade) and freestyle rappers (Dax Santos and Leon Lia) to compete in battles.
Hip-hop without a USB key
The idea of live acoustic urban music comes from the drummer. “Manu set up the K7 project to show emerging artists what it’s like to go on stage without a USB key! He wanted to put himself at the service of young Toulouse rappers to show them that music adapts to them and that it is a unique kiff”, explains the Toulouse rapper. To participate, registrations are done online, and a bingo during the show will allow you to select the artists who will go on stage from among those registered.
This best-of event is intended to be repeated every year, as the highlight of the K7 evenings, which take place once a month.
