“I always knew there was something wrong with the way I handled numbers.”he confided before adding: “I have difficulty with numbers. Recently I discovered that I have dyscalculia, a form of dyslexia. So I can’t count or add.”

A disabling disorder

This disorder, defined by the French Dys Federation, impacts the ability to calculate, count and memorize numerical facts. For Larry Mullen Jr., this particularly complicates his job as a musician.

“When people watch me play, they sometimes tell me that I look like I’m in pain. And it’s true: I’m in pain because I struggle to count bars. I had to develop techniques to do that, but it’s like climbing Everest”, explained the drummer.
