Sarah Koné will leave the artistic direction of the Maîtrise Populaire

Founder of the Maîtrise Populaire de l’Opéra-Comique, Sarah Koné will leave her position as artistic director of this artistic project next January, which has been training young people in the performing arts since 2016.

In 2016, upon her arrival at the Opéra-Comique, Sarah Koné had the idea of ​​creating the Maîtrise Populaire. Since then, as artistic director of the project, she has developed this troupe, which welcomes around 120 young people aged 9 to 20 each year, and has structured this artistic, educational and social project within the institution directed by Olivier Mantei until ‘in 2021 then by Louis Langrée.

Also very busy with her role as deputy director with the general management of the Philharmonie de where she reunited with Olivier Mantei in 2022, Sarah Koné will therefore leave at the start of the year the golds of the Salle Favart and the artistic direction of the Popular Mastery with which it enabled hundreds of young people to train in the performing arts (singing, dance, theater) and to perform at major events such as the pantheonizations of Simone Veil, Joséphine Baker, Missak Manouchian, the 2023 World Cup or the ceremonies marking the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

Louis Langrée will be the artistic director of the Maîtrise Populaire in the coming seasons

Appointed deputy director alongside Sarah Koné in 2023, Marion Nimaga-Brouwet will take charge of the operational management of the Maîtrise Populaire and Louis Langrée will ensure artistic direction for the next seasons in close collaboration with the artistic teams of the Maîtrise (Clara Brenier, choir conductor, Christine Bonneton choreographer, and Dorothée Voisine, singing teacher).

Note that the crowdfunding campaign “ Growing up on stage » for the benefit of La Maîtrise Populaire projects began at the end of November and will continue until January 23, 2025.
