“To be interesting, you have to provoke!” » In Saint-Malo, this Art center celebrates the centenary of surrealism

Around twenty lithographs by Salvador Dali, printed on pearly Japanese paper, are currently exhibited at the Center Cristel Éditeur d’Art, in the Rocabey district of Saint-Malo, the only exhibition of works by the artist currently in Brittany, the very year of the 100th anniversary of surrealism.

In addition to the naturally surreal character of Dali’s art, these lithographs likely prove to be his most provocative collection. They were made by Salvador Dalí in 1973 to illustrate “Les Songes drolatiques de Pantagruel”, by Rabelais.

Christophe Penot, one of the founders of the Center Cristel Éditeur d’Art, confides that this exhibition is the one which has received the most thanks in the 10 years of the center, surely in response to the call of the “Divine Dali”. Notice to the uninformed public: these works reflect Dali’s view of the sexual organs, relationships and excesses, lithographs in which the Spanish master no longer puts any brakes on his inspiration.
