Japanese actress Miho Nakayama was found dead on Friday December 6 in her bathtub at her home in Tokyo. She was 54 years old.
By the mid-1980s, Miho Nakayama had embarked on a singing career, quickly becoming a J-pop star. Internationally, she is best known for her role in the film “Love Letter” released in 1995.
According to the Japanese press, the capital’s police went to the actress’s home in Shibuya district after receiving a call from a relative on Friday afternoon. His death was pronounced on the spot. An investigation has been opened. She was scheduled to perform at a Christmas show in Osaka on Friday, but canceled her appearance, citing health problems.
Miho Nakayama’s agency has confirmed his death. “We are stunned by the suddenness of this event,” we read in a press release.
Miho Nakayama played the main role in the Japanese film “Love Letter” directed by Shunji Iwai and released in 1995. It tells the story of the correspondence between a young widowed woman and an unknown woman. It remains one of her most internationally recognized works, earning her several best actress awards.
In 2002, Miho Nakayama married musician and writer Hitonari Tsuji. The couple had a son in 2003 and lived in Paris for several years before divorcing in 2014.
