Quebec box office: “Mlle Bottine” was no match for the tidal wave “Moana 2”

Faced with the tidal wave Moana 2the Quebec family film Miss Bottine had to settle for 5e ranked at the Quebec box office for its first weekend in theaters.

Launched across the province last Friday, Yan Lanouette Turgeon’s film freely inspired by the classic Bach and Bottine collected revenues of $203,874 during its first three days on display, according to data compiled by the Cinéac agency.

This result ranks him at 5e rank of the best weekend box office performances in Quebec behind Hollywood blockbusters Moana 2, Wicked et Gladiator II, but also behind the family comedy The Christmas cyclone, which has been on display for three weeks.

In a press release released Monday afternoon, the distributor Immina Films, however, said it was “encouraged” by the first results of Miss Bottine at the counters.

“Despite the significant market share of blockbusters Americans, we are very encouraged by the weekend’s results which show that the film is enjoying extremely positive word of mouth with audiences of all ages. Indeed, the evolution of the box office during the weekend clearly shows us that the positive rumor is gaining ground day by day,” underlined Patrick Roy, president of Immina Films.

As with our neighbors to the South where it generated spectacular revenues of $221 million in five days, the animated film Moana 2 dominated the box office last weekend in Quebec by collecting more than $1.6 million from Friday to Sunday.
