The 2nd international edition of Codi-Zouk takes place at Parc Aimé Césaire on Sunday December 1st

The grand final of the Codi-zouk international competition, Grand Prix Jean Philippe Marthély takes place on Sunday December 1, 2024, at the Aimé Césaire Cultural Park from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. A popular festival including a craft Christmas village, set up by the Anti-stress association, a performance by the “Ballet Pomme cannelle” group, the Codi-Zouk competition with the presence of 5 competing countries. The party will end by singing Christmas with Kantik des Mornes.

Codi Zouk consists of dancing zouk in a unique, elaborate and structured way. Launched at the initiative of Jean-Marc Templet, Patrick André and Moïse Rippon, this competition touches on several themes.

Seven in total, ranging from classicpopular and accessible to all, passing by le zouk Love languid, the zouk R&Bavant-garde, the Zouk sausagevery theatrical, the “torn” or the joy of living, without forgetting the Zouk tile symbolizing flirting and le zouk New waveembracing the culture of the country.

This second edition takes place Sunday December 1, 2024 at the Aimé Césaire Cultural Park with 5 couples competing for the Marthély trophy. The competing countries are Belgium, , Réunion, Guadeloupe and . The competitors all have a high level of expertise.

The popular festival takes place from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. with highlights, such as the Christmas Craft Market, the performance of the Pomme Cannelle Ballet directed by Jessy Alamélu and the competition itself. The organizers are offering a Chanté Nwel with the group of Michel Sauvage Kantik des Mornes.

The first edition in 2023 saw the victory of Togo with Eury and Jojo.

Sarah and Ticaf represent

Ti Café La Soie after a childhood spent in Island, a detour to the south of France, he settled in Belgium, finding in this country fertile ground for his personal and professional development. Vice-European hopeful taekwondo champion with the French team, he learned rigor, perseverance and respect for the values ​​that he transposes into all aspects of his life. Her other passion remains dancing.

His partner Sarah Amaro, dancer, Kizomba and Samba teacher is internationally recognized for her expertise in teaching these dances. Sarah was born in Congo, grew up in Portugal and settled in Belgium. In 2012, the duo met at the Kizomba love Academy, founded by José N’Donggala and directed by Frans Soeren and Sarah Amaro.

This duo has won several prestigious competitions in Benelux and England and participated in the world Kizomba competition. Africadancing”. La participation of Ticaf and Sarah demonstrates their commitment to promoting their passion for zouk.

Cameron and Sylvia, they represent

This couple makes a formidable duo. Sylvia Hollyara her real name, Sylvie Fasolo, artist, sports trainer in femininity, is Congolese Sicilian. Cameron, his partner, born in the United States, is a dancer and internationally renowned professor. Dance is one of their professional activities, but also a passion.

Sylvia is happy to go to Martinique, because the Zouk dancer is in the middle of creating an Afro Cabaret which will be presented thereis January 10 and 11, 2025 in .

A show highlighting and featuring heroines, Queens of Africa and Afro-descendants with actresses in reconstruction. An approach, the result of an experiment with a holistic Body power workshop created with Émilie Vergne.

Cameron is at the head of a dance festival (dance hall, kompa, zouk, etc…) Very good, which generally happens in August in the mountains.

Angela and Fabrice represent

This is an atypical couple. Angela Landry is a nurse and Fabrice Calabre is a restaurateur. The common denominator, they like to dance and love Zouk. From then on, nothing can stop them.

Angela, the winner of the Guadeloupe Competition, talks about a twist of fate. In fact, when it was announced, she did not have a rider to respond to her, she registered anyway. “It was on the day of Codi Zouk that Fabrice and I decided to dance together.”

Sporty, she cultivates her garden while humming Zouk. His partner is not to be outdone, Fabrice is a business manager, passionate about culture and above all an ardent defender of Zouk. The pleasure of dancing and choreographing animates them and gives them strength to represent Guadeloupe with dignity.

Sofi and Helldiablo represent

Sofy, an independent multi-sector trainer, passionate about interculturality, is inhabited by life and movement. She practices ballroom dances such as tango, bolero, chacha and pasodoble. She excels in the practice of the salsa, the bachata, the kizomba, the Kompa et le Zouk.

Helldiablo, his partner is a bodywork painter. He loves Kompa and Zouk. Dance is the ultimate example of cultural diversity and the first born of the arts. occupies both space and time, the duo is aware of it. He has worked for a long time and says he is ready to do battle with the other competitors in the international Codi-zouk.

They are happy to perform in Martinique and wish to offer choreography that arouses emotions.

Christophe, passionate about dance since adolescence, evolved within the Ekymose group. A school that has forged its creativity and sense of rigor for more than 15 years. Today, for more than 2 years, he has shared his time between the profession of entrepreneurial optician, his passion for kizomba (champion of the Antilles-Guyana in 2013), the joys of fatherhood and the dimension of Zouk.

Christelle, mother of an adorable daughter and Christophe’s sister. It exercises the function of territorial framework, with the promotion and emancipation of Martinique as its credo. From a young age, she participated in the management of the Kizomba school within the Ekymose association. A committed woman, she works with the Tropicabana troupe.

If the name Hérelle rings a bell, they are the children of the distinguished singer Thimothée Herelle. Christophe and Christelle hope to represent Martinique with dignity.

The jury, made up of personalities from the artistic world, will judge the performances according to precise criteria including choreography, outfit and stage presence.

The candidates have two choreographies to present, the first to their liking and the second to imposed music. The Jean-Philippe Marthély Grand Prix will be awarded to the best dancer. The 1st edition was won by Togo.
