Nick Cannon is undergoing therapy after being diagnosed with ‘narcissistic personality disorder’. Earlier this month, “The Masked Singer” host revealed this “clinical diagnosis” during an episode of his Counsel Culture podcast, noting that it checked off almost all of the “markers.”
Chatting with a People reporter at a Thanksgiving celebration at the Los Angeles Mission on Wednesday (November 27), Nick Canon explained that he “always knew” he was different from his friends growing up. “I haven’t figured it all out yet, but I’ve always wanted to get tested. I did a bunch of tests, said the man who insured his testicles for $10 million. I was diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). Even when I was a kid, it was dyslexia, but as for knowing that I’m a neurodivergent person, I always knew that.”
According to experts at Harvard Health, narcissistic personality disorder is characterized by “impulsivity, volatility, attention-seeking, and a lack of empathy.” Behavioral traits may also include an excessive sense of self-importance or entitlement, as well as a preoccupation with oneself.
By speaking out on the subject, Nick Canon, who had twelve children with six women, hopes to break down barriers. “I feel like there are so many labels going around, but it’s like I’m able to accept them and say, ‘Look, I’m healing. I need help. Show me. I take charge of my mental health and therapy in such a strong way,” continued the 44-year-old actor and rapper. Being able to say that I am an example for others, but also being healed during the healing process, that works too.”
