Aya Nakamura returns to racist attacks linked to her presence at the opening ceremony of the Olympics

Guest of the show “C à vous” on Thursday, the singer returned to the racist attacks received before her world-famous performance.

This is one of the highlights of the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games: Aya Nakamura leaving the French Academy to sing her titles Pookie et Djadjawhile integrating For me formidable by Charles Aznavour, accompanied by the Republican Guard. But the French singer had, in previous weeks, been the victim of racist attacks, particularly from the far right. “I felt like I was in a movie”she said in the show “C à vous”, Thursday November 28, on France 5 and available on francet.tv.

In March, Marine Le Pen spoke of “provocation”denouncing the “attire and vulgarity” of the singer. “She doesn’t speak French, but she doesn’t speak French either (…) It’s not crossbreeding, it’s nonsense”said the leader of the National Rally. On France 5, the artist says he was “necessarily affected” by such reactions. “I first saw it as another criticismshe explains. Then when I saw that my family was affected and that many artists supported me, I told myself that it was much more serious, that something extraordinary was happening.”

However, Aya Nakamura was not surprised to be targeted, considering “get the ball rolling”. “I am the first from my background to do what I do. (…) You can’t arrive like that, be a ‘renoi’, come from Aulnay-sous-Bois and directly sing at the Olympics for France, which happens once every 100 years.”

“But I did it anyway, and I was the one who sang !”she laughed. She takes the opportunity to slip a little dig at a few colleagues : “When I saw a lot of artists who wanted to have me as a feat say: ‘I can sing too, I’m legitimate’, I didn’t find it fair play on their part and disappointing.”

While the ceremony was followed by a billion viewers, the sequence itself has since been rewatched (and sometimes imitated) several million times on social networks, reinforcing the celebrity of “Queen Aya” both in France and in the world. Many hoped that Aya Nakamura would release a studio version of this performance, in particular of the title by Charles Aznavour. “It’s very hard to sing this song. I struggled to sing the verse. So the whole song? I have a migraine… To see”the person responded on Thursday.
