For the characters, several dozen young women filmed in full preparations, Saturday November 23, 2024, before going to the demonstration organized that day, in Paris, against violence against women. For the decor, first the interior of a wealthy house – beautiful high ceilings, with moldings and fireplace – then a well-kept garden, surrounded by trees and hedges. However, some elements are surprising: after writing their slogans on signs, some young women mask their faces, or make themselves up using blonde wigs. In the background, we can also see an equestrian statuette of Joan of Arc, as well as a French flag mounted on a pole, as we find during official declarations.
The characters are in truth the activists of the Némésis collective, which has long claimed “identity feminism” but now prefers the label “right-wing feminism”. Their credo: tirelessly attribute responsibility for sexual violence in France to immigrants, while denouncing the alleged hypocrisy of feminists mainstream on the subject. The setting is in truth that of the Pavillon de l'écuyer, nestled in the Parisian suburbs on the heights of Saint-Cloud (Hauts-de-Seine), better known to the general public under the name of the Montretout estate and the family's historic stronghold Le Pen, starting with its patriarch, Jean-Marie Le Pen.
The images are those of a report by the far-right media Frontières (formerly Livre noir), which nevertheless sought to hide the exact location. A “place of preparation” “close to Paris”this is what is said about the activists' starting point. They were actually preparing to perform a happening as they are used to: “infiltrate” in the #noustoutes demonstration to chant their own slogans: “Life sentence for rapists”but also “Let’s control immigration”, “Foreign rapists on the plane”, “Application of OQTFs”… That day, they were finally intercepted on the way by the police, who allowed them to march apart, surrounded by a large police cordon.
Contacted by The WorldAlice Cordier, the director of the Némésis collective, explains that she is completely unaware of the place where this operation was prepared and its owners. “It’s private property that we obtained thanks to one of our activists, but I don’t know where we wereexplains the head of Némésis. I don't know the Le Pen family and I don't know if they own this place; but, if that is the case, I thank him for it. » However, it is difficult to doubt the links between the manor and its owners, a huge portrait of Jean-Marie Le Pen in privateer outfit usually welcoming the visitor from the reception room of the residence. A relative of the former president of the National Front confirms Monde that the images were filmed in Montretout, “undoubtedly possible”.
