Patrick J. Adams, the former interpreter of Mike Ross in Suitsreturned unvarnished and with great frankness, to his depression and his alcoholism which undermined him during his last season on the series.
Sometimes appearances are deceiving! To see it in Suitsat the time, one could easily believe that Patrick J. Adamswho played legal code genius Mike Ross, had a good life on and off the small screen. But we must be wary of illusions. The American-Canadian actor, now 43 years old, has in fact lifted the veil on the demons that haunted him and against which he fought. Be careful, his words are frank… therefore harsh.
Suits : “I was depressed and drinking too much. I stayed on the show for the money”Patrick J. Adams (Mike) cash on his descent into hell during the filming of the series
Guest of Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s podcast, Dinner’s on me, Patrick J. Adams was candid about his difficult experience during the filming of the 7th season of Suitsavailable on Netflix, and the last one in which he appeared full-time: “I wasn’t really taking care of my mental health and I was drinking way too much at the end of that season (…) I felt miserable and, I would say, frankly, depressed. I didn’t have the tools then to dealing with this depression other than spending money and drinking, not knowing how to talk about what I was feeling.” This strong testimony does not stop there and draws the portrait of an actor who truly suffered from deep pain: “I anesthetized myself in order to manage my insecurity and my fears (…) But it didn’t really work. And all of this had repercussions on my relationship, of course, but it also made me a less present father . And this element was actually a trigger, that’s when I said to myself ‘Maybe I should stop drinking because I don’t want to be such a father.’ The best thing I did for myself was quit drinking. The only reason I stayed on the show is… money… Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and I think about all the money [que Gabriel Macht, l’autre star de Suits] happened during the last two seasons, but I have never regretted my decision. It was the right thing to do for my marriage…it was about time.” Husband of the actress Troian Bellisario since 2016, father of two children and now thriving actor, Patrick J. Adams has now visibly conquered a large part of his demons.
Suits : Soon a new spin-off series with Stephen Amell!
After a first, and short-lived, spin-off series centered on the character of Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres), Suits is about to come back to life with a 2nd spin-off entitled Suits: L.A. and set in Los Angeles. Worn by Stephen Amell, who swapped his superhero mask from Green Arrow to put on the costume of lawyer Ted Black today, this new legal series should be broadcast in the United States from February 2025. In France, no broadcast date has yet been announced. But it would be surprising if the Netflix platform, on which the original series was a real global hit, missed out…
